NHS Health Checks

Even though you might be feeling great, if you’re over forty you may be at risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, diabetes or dementia. Making the time for your health could make a big difference to your future.

A FREE NHS Health Check can help you reduce these risks and make sure that you stay healthy.

NHS Health Checks are available to residents who:

·       Are aged 40-74

·       Are registered with a GP in Hertfordshire

·       Do not already have heart disease, stroke, diabetes or kidney disease

·       Have not had an NHS Health Check in the last 5 years

The check is around 20 minutes long, where you will be asked lifestyle questions, have your cholesterol, height, weight, and blood pressure checked, and sometimes a blood sugar test.

You will be given a Cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk score to show you your likelihood of developing heart or circulation problems over the next 10 years.

A health care professional will provide personalised advice and support to help you reduce your risk and improve your long term health.
